In a country which feels the impact of climate change much deeper than we can ever imagine here in the UK, building soil resilience and improving pastoral management to withstand future droughts, floods and other challenges, is not a ‘nice to have’ but a complete necessity!

I’ve been learning so much this week about the amazing efforts by individuals here in Tanzania to start turning the tide on degraded lands like this.

A movement driven from the grassroots and focussed on empowering communities to change from within.

I’m so inspired by the language being used to build collaboration and encourage individuals on a journey to sustainability, which in the process will lift whole communities out of poverty.

There are some incredible examples where this is already happening and the potential to scale these approaches are vast, but they will require greater support and engagement to meet the pace of change that is needed.
